Earthquake Risk Heightened Over Next Few Weeks

Roughly every 14 months the Pacific Northwest goes through a seismic cycle known as a slow-slip event.  For about a two to six week period the region will experience thousands of small earthquakes as a result of seismic stress where the Juan de Fuca and North American plates connect.  This also heightens the likelihood of a major earthquake occurring in BC or Washington State.  Based on the 14 month guideline, the next slow-slip event should start around April 18.  That being said, mother nature doesn't follow set schedules, so we've started to keep a very close eye on the data...
